Continue straight ahead on to the River Bure when you reach Thurne Mouth, passing Upton Dyke and under Acle Bridge until you reach the pretty village of Stokesby. Free moorings can be found by the car park or you can moor in front of The Ferry Inn for a small fee.

After breakfast continue down the River Bure, making a stop at the Stracey Arms Wind Pump (a fully restored wind pump which houses a photographic display of the history of Broads drainage mills), until you reach Gt Yarmouth. Moor up at the Yacht station and then head to the sea front (20min walk) for Fish & Chips the ones from HMS Hinchinbrook on Marine Parade are particularly good.
It is then time to explore everything Yarmouth has to offer. Whether it’s trip to SeaLife Centre, some crazy golf or the thrills of the Pleasure Beach there is plenty to keep you busy. If you fancy something a bit more relaxing discover Great Yarmouth’s history at the Time and Tide museum or grab a deck chair and head down to the beach.
The entertainment doesn’t stop when the sun goes down. Every Wednesday over the summer the skies over Yarmouth are illuminated with a brilliant firework display. There are hundreds of pubs, bars and restaurants to choose from any day of the week and the Hippodrome and Britannia Pier host a variety of shows throughout the year.
Day 3
Acle. Depending on how much fun you’re having you might wish to stay another night in Yarmouth. If you do the next two days can be combined into one.
When you are ready, retrace your route back up the Bure to the village of Acle. Mooring is available just after Acle Dyke and outside the Bridge Inn and (fees apply). Take the short walk into the village and visit the part thatched, round towered St Edmunds church which dates back to the 15th century.
Both riverside pubs serve food with the Hermitage specialising in fresh caught local seafood and The Bridge Inn serving good quality pub food, they also have a large children’s play area.
Day 4
Thurne. Depart Acle heading up river, turn left at Thurne Mouth, on to the River Thurne. Stop off at St Benet’s Abbey and explore the ruins, before turning left into Fleet Dyke. Mooring is available alongside the river and from here you can follow the footpath to the village and Fairhaven Woodland Water Garden. Call in for Lunch at their tea room before exploring the beautiful gardens.
When you are ready to leave South Walsham, make your way back down Fleet Dyke and turn right on to the Thurne. Turn left at Thurne Mouth and continue up river towards the boatyard. You have a couple of options for your final nights mooring. Either pull into Thurne dyke on your right, where there are plenty of moorings or continue a little further and turn left into Womack Water, where moorings can be found at the public staithe or at Womack Island.
